Masters of Mobility – Workshop
ABOUT THE EVENT
What: Masters of Mobility is an introduction to Micro:bit microcontrollers, coding, AI, and Physical Computing for Middle and High School Teachers. In this 3-day workshop, you’ll use graphical programming to control the Micro:bit and accessory devices! No coding experience is required to easily access these user-friendly microcontrollers. Micro:bits are powerful learning tools as stand alone devices, but we’ll also add some gear and you’ll have lights blinking, motors turning, and vehicles avoiding crashes and operating autonomously for a real world, tangible application of wireless communication!
We take the big ideas behind one of Michigan’s leading industries – “Mobility” and break it down into bite sized chunks suitable for classroom teachers to share with their students. Kit materials include the BBC-developed Micro:bit, a robust robot vehicle, and an AI camera capable of object recognition. Teachers from Hillsdale, Jackson, Lenawee, Livingston, Monroe and Washtenaw Counties receive a bonus kit courtesy of Washtenaw Community College.
